The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Wednesday said it is ready to provide technical support for a possible forensic audit of the so-called “Cabral files.”

The files consist of data storage devices, documents, and records linked to the late Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Undersecretary Maria Catalina Cabral, a key figure in the corruption scandal involving government flood control projects.

In a statement, Acting PNP Chief PLt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said he has placed the PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group (ACG) on standby in anticipation of any formal request for technical assistance or a forensic audit.

“The PNP is always ready to assist with this matter as part of our commitment to truth, transparency, and accountability,” Nartatez said.

He added that the PNP has been assisting in the verification and investigation of questionable infrastructure projects.

Nartatez said a forensic audit, if warranted, could help establish the authenticity and integrity of the documents.

He emphasized that the PNP would await a formal request from an authorized body and, once received, would fully cooperate through the ACG while strictly observing standard operating procedures and existing laws.

Cabral was found dead in a ravine in Tuba, Benguet, on Dec. 18, 2025. Investigators said she jumped to her death. (PNA)
