Reaffirming the Philippines’ commitment to reinforcing its alliances with like-minded nations from all corners of the globe, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. is set to welcome Polish President Karol Nawrocki in his state visit from October 5 to 8, 2026.
In an announcement released by the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) on Friday, the government’s communications arm touted this event as a significant moment in Philippines-Poland relations.
The first visit by a Polish Head of State to the country follows recent milestones for both countries, such as the inaugural meeting of the Philippines-Poland Joint Defense Cooperation Committee in Warsaw in July 2026, and the 7th Philippines-Poland Political Consultations in Manila in September 2026.
The announcement read, “Talks will cover priority areas for cooperation, such as defense and security, trade and investment, agriculture, science and technology, ICT, legal cooperation, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges.”
Poland was among the slate of European countries that recently acceded to the ASEAN Treaty of Amity and Cooperation (TAC) during the 50th anniversary commemorative activities held in July, under the Philippines’ chairship of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
President Nawrocki’s visit to the Philippines is expected to create opportunities for Manila to engage with Warsaw and exchange views on regional and international developments, and explore new avenues for further cooperation and development.
2026 marks 53 years of Philippines-Poland diplomatic relations, which was conceived on September 22, 1973 and have seen revitalization of ties over the past decade.
Home to 25,000 Filipinos, Poland also ranks 28th among the Philippines’ largest trading partners as of 2025.
