Duterte accepts Paolo resignation as Davao City vice mayor

MANILA — President Rodrigo Duterte has accepted the resignation of his son Paolo as vice mayor of Davao City.

“We refer to your letter tendering resignation as Vice Mayor of Davao City. On behalf of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, this is to inform you that your resignation is hereby accepted, effective immediately,” Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea said in his letter to the presidential son.

Paolo resigned out of delicadeza last December 25 after his name was dragged into the PHP6.4 billion illegal drug smuggling case investigated by the Senate.

He also cited as a reason for his resignation his public squabble with his 17-year-old daughter Isabelle.
