Sec. Andanar to launch PCO Net in cities of Bacolod, Iloilo

ILOILO CITY — Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary Martin Andanar will lead the launching of the Provincial Communication Officers Network (PCO Net) in cities of Bacolod and Iloilo on January 10-11, respectively.

The PCO Net is a network of government communicators that will ensure the efficient flow of information to the communities.

In an interview Tuesday, Jaime S. Cabag Jr., OIC- regional director of the Philippine Information Agency in Western Visayas (PIA-6), stressed that the PCO net would be able to link Malacañang to communities through the information officers of local government units, regional line agencies and even private organizations.

“It is to ensure that the policies and plans of President Rodrigo Duterte reach every Filipino people in the communities like in our region, Western Visayas,” he said.

Cabag stressed the significant role of the information officers in cascading of information to the people in communities, especially in far-flung areas.

Through the PCO Net, they expect that the public would have direct information from the Palace, particularly of the issues affecting them, Cabag said.

Andanar would be joined by Communications Assistant Secretary Ana Marie Paz Banaag during the launch, he added.

After the launch in Iloilo City, he said that they were scheduled to meet with the information officers of the different LGUs, regional line agencies and private organizations in this city.

They are also scheduled to pay a courtesy call to Iloilo City Mayor Jose Espinosa III and to Provincial Governor Arthur Defensor, Sr.

Prior to Bacolod City and Iloilo, PCO net was also launched in several provinces like Surigao, Agusan, General Santos, Sarangani, Pangasinan, Cordillera, Siquijor, and Dumaguete. (PNA)
