DPWH-2 completes 626 projects in Cagayan Valley

TUGUEGARAO CITY — The Department of Public Works and Highways in Region 2 has completed in Cagayan Valley Region a total of 626 projects worth PHP6.03 billion under the DPWH 2017 Regular Infrastructure Program.

DPWH-2 Regional Director Melanio C. Briosos, said the completed projects include: 278.24 kilometers of national, secondary and tertiary roads, 33 flood control projects, and 574 other infrastructure projects involving the construction of tourism roads, farm-to-market roads, bridges along local roads, school buildings, national buildings, multi-purpose buildings and water systems.

Briosos also said that among major completed projects are the PHP73.6-million Gattaran Flood Control, PHP52.2-million Sisim Bridge, PHP34.9-million road upgrading in Vayang Rolling Hills, and the PHP631.9-million replacement of Lucban Bridge.

“These projects contributed to the growth of tourism and economic stability in the area while providing comfort and seamless travel to motorists and the populace of Cagayan Valley,” said Briosos.

The DPWH in Region 2 also completed a number of projects funded by other government agencies in Cagayan Valley.

These include the 99 school buildings consisting of 1,023 classrooms for the elementary, secondary, and senior high school students under the Department of Education’s (DepEd) Basic Education Facilities Fund (BEFF) worth a total of PHP1.7 billion; 61.75 kilometers of farm-to-market roads under the Department of Agriculture amounting to PHP518.5-million; and 13.21 kilometers of road leading to tourism destinations with a value of PHP175.10 million.
