PC Hill soon to be colorful hillside tourist attraction

COTABATO CITY — The city’s Pedro Colina Hill, aptly called P. C. Hill, will soon be vibrant with bright colors as some 100 houses facing the east side of the city will be painted with accents of guinakit (convoy of Muslim bancas), gongs and crabs, which symbolizes the city’s culture and resources.

The hill, a military reservation area, currently houses the offices of the Cotabato City Police Headquaters , the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency – Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, and Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, among others.

Retired local military and police personnel owns most houses erected on the hill.

On Jan. 26, the city government, in partnership with the Department of Tourism Region 12, held a groundbreaking ceremony for the realization of the houses’ painting initiative dubbed as “P.C. Hill Revitalization Project: Shine Kutang Bato.”

The project, which will be supervised by the city engioneering office, will entail a cost of PHP1.6-million and expected to be completed within this year.

Mayor Cyntia Guiani-Sayadi has expressed full support to the project, citing it would liven up the spirits of Cotabateños to see the landmark full of life once again.

“Together, let us brighten up our city. Let us help in preserving the natural beauty of Cotabato City while at the same time, making it more progressive,” the mayor said. Once finished, the P.C. Hill houses could be likened to the beautiful painted mountain houses in Barangay Balili, La Trinidad, Benguet. (PNA)
