Gordon, Faeldon flared up in senate hearing

Senator Richard Gordon and former Bureau of Customs (BOC) Commissioner Nicanor Faeldon flared up in senate hearing on Monday about P6.4 billion smuggled shabu shipment, after Faeldon failed to attend Senate Blue Ribbon Committee hearings.

The senator stressed the privileges that ex Customs commissioner’s getting during his detention, like celebrating Christmas with his family in senate.

“You do not agree na hindi kayo pinayagan magkaroon ng bisita?” Gordon asked.

“My father has been long dead. I never had a party with my father dito sa Senate. I had no party with anybody,” Faeldon answered.

Faeldon said that he had a dinner with his family, but clarified that it was not a party — adding that the senator is exaggerating.

“You are exaggerating,” he told the senator.

“Don’t tell me I am exaggerating,” Gordon answered shouting.

Faeldon wishes to question Supreme Court about his detention since he is not getting equal treatment from the Blue Ribbon Committee.

“I stopped attending the hearing noong hindi na ako government employee dahil ‘yong takbo ng hearing hindi naman gusto ang katotohanan,” Faeldon stated.

Until the hearing ends, trade of barbs persist between Gordon and Faeldon.

“Do not accuse me of unfairness, I’ve never been unfair in any hearing here,” Gordon said.

The Senate requested to move Faeldon in Pasay City Jail.

The next senate hearing about BOC issues will be held on February 8.
