3 Archers take leave due to ‘no endorsement rule’: La Salle

MANILA – La Salle has clarified the status of Brent Paraiso and the Rivero Brothers after reports surfaced that the three are out of the university’s men’s basketball team.

“The De La Salle University Men’s Basketball Team management announced that they have implemented a policy that prohibits players to enter into sponsorship agreements with commercial entities,” the university’s Office of Sports Development said in a statement released Friday night.

“This will allow the players to focus on the games and team practices without any restrictions. In this connection, team members Prince Rivero, Ricci Rivero, and Brent Paraiso have requested to go on leave from the basketball team to honor their contractual obligations to their existing endorsements,” the statement read.

Word has reached the Philippine News Agency (PNA) earlier in the week that Paraiso’s and the Rivero Brothers’ stay with the Green Archers is in danger, but as the week passed, different stories arose regarding what happened to them.

The school, however, assured that the three are still its students.

“Prince, Ricci, and Brent are currently enrolled in the university and are attending their respective classes,” the statement added. (PNA)
