10 PDEA agents complete training on X-ray cargo screening

MANILA — Ten agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) have completed a five-day training on X-ray cargo screening in Pasay City.

In a statement Tuesday, PDEA Director General Aaron N. Aquino said the five-day training was conducted by the Office of the Transportation Security (OTS), to familiarize PDEA agents and PAL personnel with the basic principles of X-ray operation, detection of prohibited items, and the color coding interpretation and classification of materials.

Aquino said the training, which also included 11 PAL personnel, was held last Feb. 12 to 16 as part of capability enhancement of PDEA personnel to detect concealed illegal drugs.

He added that operatives assigned in the airports and seaports will also be equipped with the same skill.

An oral and written examination was given to the participants to assess their learning skills.

“PDEA expressed its gratitude to the Office of Transportation Security (OTS) for imparting its expertise to our agents”, Aquino said in a statement. (PNA)
