Western Visayas cops get promotion, new equipment

ILOILO CITY — Some 510 uniformed personnel of the Philippine National Police in Western Visayas received their much-awaited promotion on Monday.

Philippine Army’s 3rd Infantry (Spearhead) Division (3ID) Brigadier General Dinoh Dolina and Regional Director Police Chief Superintendent Cesar Hawthorne Binag of the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO6) led the donning of ranks.

Binag said told the law enforcers that with their promotion, they are expected to further improve their performances in maintaining the peace and order in the region.

PRO 6 record shows that 486 of the uniformed personnel were promoted under the regular promotion program of the Philippine National Police (PNP) while 24 were promoted after passing the special promotion examination of the National Police Commission (Napolcom).

Under the regular promotion program, 179 policemen were promoted from Police Officer (PO) 3 to Senior Police Officer (SPO) 1; 97 from PO2- PO3; 69, from PO1-PO2; 53, SPO1-SPO2; 39, SPO2-SPO3; 30, SPO4-Police Inspector (PI); 8, SPO3-SPO4; 6, Police Senior Inspector (PSI)-Police Chief Inspector (PCI); 5, PI-SPI.

The 15 patrol cars will be equally distributed to the municipal and city police stations in each province in the region.

Binag said that the deployment of new equipment is part of the continuing program of the Duterte administration to “strengthen the capability of police”.

He said that the body cameras will be given to the Regional Drug Enforcement Unit 6 (RDEU-6), which they can use in their buy-bust operations.
