Traffic enforcers top Bacoor City recognition awards

BACOOR CITY, Cavite – Two traffic enforcers who were wounded during a shooting incident in a public market here topped this month’s honors and recognition awards for special achievements.

The awards presentations on Monday at the Strike gymnasium were spearheaded by Mayor Lani Mercado Revilla and the City Council for the achievements of city constituents and students in the poster-making, drawing, and essay contests in observance of “Fire Prevention Month” this March.

Revilla awarded the special certificates and medals of recognition to Bacoor Traffic Management Department (BTMD) enforcers Romeo S. Rito Jr. and Rommel P. Ignacio for their courage in line of duty during the clearing operation in the Zapote Public Market.

The two were shot by an assailant while they were enforcing public order and clearing the congested market from illegal vendors and hawkers.

Among the roster of awardees were Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)-Calabarzon Regional Director Jesus Fernandez, Bacoor City BFP members and student entries to the BFP’s Fire Prevention Month art tilts.

Revilla lauded the BFP’s readiness and achievements in observance of Fire Prevention Month and commended it for bagging the Number 1 in the Civil Service Commission’s Anti-Red Tape (ARTA) compliance from among cities in the Calabarzon Region comprised of Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon.

The BFP-Bacoor City also romped off with the “Best City Fire Station of the Year” during the BFP 25th Anniversary last Aug. 2016.

The city mayor also pledged to donate two more fire trucks to hasten the city BFP’s capability and emergency response and augment the existing five fire trucks of the city fire station.

She also lauded the participants for showing their sportsmanship and camaraderie during the BFP-Bacoor City “Fire Olympics 2018,” which featured a range of challenges designed to test the skills of firefighters and volunteers.

She also thanked them for their unwavering effort to manage fire incidents in the city and promote fire safety among the citizenry.

Revilla also handed the awards for the drawing and essay contest winners and to the overall poster-making contest champion Caillie Maring. (Rogelio Limpin/PNA)
