Hot logs seized in Benguet, Kalinga provinces

CAMP DANGWA, Benguet — Some PHP123,494 worth of illegally cut lumber was recovered anew in various parts of the region.

The Police Regional Office Cordillera (PROCOR) reported on Thursday that the Pinukpuk Municipal Police Station, acting through an information, recovered lumber of various dimensions floating under the Chico River Aquino Bridge in Kalinga province on March 14.

Seized were 19 pieces of red lauan measuring 2x6x16 and 102 pieces of 2x6x18 softwood with a total volume 2,140 board feet valued at PHP107,000. These were turned over to the town’s environmental office for proper disposal.

Also on March 14 in Benguet, joint personnel of the Buguias Municipal Police Station and the Benguet Provincial Mobile Force Company, while conducting patrol in Sitio Pugo, Baculongan Norte in Buguias, Benguet, recovered 548 board feet of pine lumber with a market value of PHP16,494.

The seized lumber was brought to the custody of the municipal environmental office. (PNA)
