Palace suspends classes at all levels in Metro Manila Tuesday

MANILA – Malacanang has suspended anew classes at all levels in Metro Manila on Tuesday in view of the “organized transport strike, and in order to minimize the inconvenience to the riding public”.

Malacanang also suspended afternoon classes on Monday, saying the suspension might be extended up to Friday if the Pinagkaisahang Samahan ng Tsuper at Opereytor Nationwide (Piston) pushes through with its threat to continue the nationwide transport strike.

“The President has instructed that he will suspend classes even with the slightest threat of a strike to ensure the protection and well-being of students,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said.

He said the decision to suspend classes outside Metro Manila will be left to the “sound discretion” of local government units.

“We reiterate that the government remains steadfast to modernize our public utility vehicles and will not be bullied or held hostage by some transport groups,” Roque said. (Jelly Musico/PNA)
