DPWH to orient beauty queen on ‘Build Build Build’

MANILA — Binibining Pilipinas 2018 candidate Sandra Lemonon is set to get an orientation on the government’s ‘Build Build Build’ program on Friday.

Anna Mae Lamentillo, ‘Build Build Build’ Committee Chairman for the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), said she is looking to discuss other things with the beauty queen aside from the infrastructure projects of the Duterte administration.

“I’ll meet her (Lemonon) tomorrow (Friday). It’s is our initial meeting, we would just discuss build, build, build and probably we would move forward after that. We will just talk,” she said.

Lamentillo said she was not disappointed when the beauty contestant admitted that she was not aware of the infrastructure program of the government when asked during the pageant.

“No, for us it was an indicator that we need to do better. We would be more aggressive in communicating the ‘Build Build Build’ program,” she said.

“We will work harder in terms of communicating the build3x and we are happy with the reaction of the people. We feel that a lot of Filipinos know more of the build3x after Binibining Pilipinas contest,” the DPWH official added.

With this, Lamentillo noted that because of the controversial answer, it prompted them to do their best in terms of disseminating information about the infrastructure programs of the government.

“We are doing our best now, we will be more aggressive about it. We do inspections, always with announcement, we even tap our billboards and asking privates sector to help spread the message across but we admit that there are more things still needs to be done,” she said.

“We would push the message in terms of communicating the message across. In a few weeks, we would see very aggressive communication campaign ‘Build Build Build’,” Lamentillo added.

She explained that the Build, Build, Build program involves thousands of projects including the 75 priority projects of the Duterte government.

“The 75 projects combined with the Department of Transportation, Bases Conversion and Development Authority, Department of Energy, etc,” Lamentillo added.

During the question and answer portion of the prestigious beauty pageant on Sunday, Lemonon was asked to comment on the government’s infrastructure program, to which she honestly replied as “something I don’t know much about”. (PNA)
