‘Bisikleta Iglesia’ shows Pangasinan cops’ godliness core value

LINGAYEN, Pangasinan — The Pangasinan police provincial office (PPO) is set to conduct their annual ‘Bisikleta Iglesia’ on Maundy Thursday as their way of observing the Lenten season in line with their “Maka-Diyos” (Pro-God) core value.

“One of the core values of the policemen is ‘Maka-Diyos’, and during this time policemen should be able to show that by participating in this kind of activity,” said Supt. Norman Florentino, information officer of PPO, in an interview with the Philippine News Agency (PNA) on Wednesday.

For PPO, “Bisikleta Iglesia” stands for” Bisikleta Iglesia sa Semana Santa Isang Linggong Kwaresma Linisin ang Kasalanan at Maging Ehemplo Tayo sa Araw na ito”.

Members of PPO will be joined by bikers from different non-government organizations.

The “Bisikleta Iglesia” will begin at the chapel of PPO, then to the churches of Binmaley, Dagupan, Mangaldan, San Fabian, San Jacinto and finally to the Minore Basilica of Manaoag.

“We encourage our policemen and all bikers who will be joining the activity to meditate on their faith while biking,” Florentino said.

Meanwhile, Florentino added police assistance desks and centers along major thoroughfares were already established and 85 to 90 percent of PPO’s personnel were on maximized deployment, particularly on tourist destinations in the province. (PNA)
