West Visayas tourism officers to hold familiarization tour in Antique

SAN JOSE de BUENAVISTA, Antique — Tourism officers from all over Western Visayas are set to hold a three-day familiarization tour in Antique this April to help promote destinations in the province.

Provincial Tourism Officer Jose Ramlu Villaluna said in an interview on Wednesday that among the sites to be visited are the Siraan Hot Spring and Nogas Island in Anini-y; the newly renovated Baroque Church in Tobias Fornier in southern Antique; the San Pedro ruins and Padlusan Adventure Park, where there is a zipline, in central Antique; and the Mararison Island in northern Antique.

“We intend to show the tourism officers the different tourist sites from southern to northern Antique so they may be able to help promote our destinations in their own places,” Villaluna said.

He noted that the tourism industry in the province is picking up, given the number of tourists who came even during the Holy Week.

“I still don’t have the figure of the tourist arrivals during the Holy Week but there was really a noticeable number of people who came to Antique then,” he said.

The familiarization tour will be held on April 23-25. (Annabel Consuelo Petinglay/PNA)
