Security forces smashed BIFF in Maguindanao, 6 highpowered firearms recovered

DATU PAGLAS, Maguindanao— Combined elements of the Philippine Army and PNP seized 6 highpowered weapons and arrested BIFF terrorists in a 1-hour clash here today.

Col Bismarck Soliba, the Commander of the 1st Mechanized Infantry Brigade, said that the operation was launched to protect the people against atrocities.

“We wanted to prevent the BIFF from initiating terroristic actions against peaceful communities,” said Soliba.

Among the seized weapons include two Cal 50 Barret Sniper Rifle, 1 M60 Machinegun, 1 RPG, 1 M14 Rifle and 1 M16 Rifle. Six suspected BIFF members were captured.

No one was hurt among the troops of the 33rd Infantry Battalion led by Lt Col Harold Cabunoc.

MGen Arnel Dela Vega has commended the troops for the successful mission.

“I am glad that our government security forces had pre-empted terroristic attacks against peaceful communities. We appreciate the continuous support of the people in sharing information about possible acts of violence,” said Dela Vega. ### Philippine Army | via Eunice Samonte
