TALITAY, Maguindanao –- A pre-dawn anti-drug operation here left a former village councilman dead, his wife arrested and more than PHP1 – million worth of shabu seized, an anti-narcotics official said Thursday.
Director Juvenal Azurin of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency – Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (PDEA-ARMM) said big-time drug peddler Maguid Sinduan, former councilor of Barangay Kiadap, was killed after he traded bullets with PDEA operatives and elements of the Army’s 90th Infantry Battalion during the 4 a.m. operation.
“Sinduan resisted arrest by firing at our law enforcers then fled under cover of darkness,” Azurin told reporters, adding “Our troops responded and killed him.”
Sinduan’s brother, identified as Nash and included in the search warrant, managed to escape, Azurin said.
Sinduan’s wife, Farida, was also arrested after guns were seized in their home.
PDEA agents found several huge sachets of shabu with an estimated market value of PHP1-million, two hand guns and M-203 rifle grenade launcher and ammunition.
Azurin said Sinduan heads the Amiril Drug Group peddling illegal drugs in Maguindanao and Cotabato City. (Edwin Fernandez/PNA)
