LAOAG CITY — Business process outsourcing (BPO) firm Alorica Teleservices, Inc. has committed to donate at least 50 computers to selected schools in Ilocos Norte province.
To facilitate the donation, Governor Ma. Imelda Josefa “Imee” Marcos is set to enter into a memorandum of agreement with the BPO firm through a resolution the Ilocos Norte Provincial Board members approved last Tuesday.
Senior board member Joseph Matthew Manotoc, who chairs the committee on education, said computers are needed in schools, particularly those in remote villages.
Upon the signing of the memorandum, which has yet to be announced, the Ilocos Norte government will identify the schools that need the computers the most.
Alorica is among the private companies in the province that have committed to donate computers to enable school children to have better access to information and become more competitive in class. (Leilanie Adriano/PNA)
