BACOOR CITY, Cavite — Bacoor City Mayor Lani Mercado Revilla on Friday hailed the first batch of graduates of the Department of Education’s (DepEd) K to 12 program in public schools for completing the Senior High School level with flying colors.
Revilla, who was guest speaker at the Commencement Exercises in various public schools here like the Talaba 4-Elementary School, congratulated the graduates, students, teachers and parents for successfully implementing the K to 12 curricular programs amid the such challenges as inadequate teaching personnel, classrooms and school facilities.
The Bacoor City mayor, who formerly served as Cavite’s district Representative, is one of those who championed the K-12 program during her legislative works in Congress.
She described the momentous occasion like graduation as “a victory in a student’s life, an event to be proud of not just for the students, but more so for their parents who made sacrifices to see them through school.”
She said that the commencement exercises actually signal new beginnings for the new Senior High School graduates while inspiring the elementary graduates in the moving up ceremonies as they embark on a new academic journey to prepare for secondary education.
“Kayong mga mag-aaral sa ilalim ng K to 12 program, magiging liyamado kayo sa paghahanap ng trabaho pagkatapos ng inyong formal education (students under the K to 12 are sure to find jobs after your formal education),” she said.
Revilla also pointed out that the specific tutorials under the SHS graduates’ chosen strands would equip them to handle and hurdle the challenges brought forth by the current economic situation in the country and the motivation to further studies in tertiary level for their respective full collegiate degrees.
She also assured that the city government is ready to assist Bacooreño graduates on their local employment prospects, especially under the city Public Employment Service Office (PESO) programs and the city scholarships for poor but deserving students – who will enter college.
