DSWD has stockpiles and standby fund for earthquake/disasters

MANILA, July 6 — The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) said they have stockpiles and standby fund prepositioned ahead for affected sectors in the event of disasters like the earthquake Thursday afternoon in Region 8.

In her facebook post, DSWD Secretary Judy Taguiwalo said the DSWD Central Office, Field Office in Region 8 and National Resource Operations Center (NROC) have stockpiles and standby funds amounting to ₱1.12 billion.

“There is a total of 116,957 Family Food Packs (FFPs) amounting to PhP 44,425,529 and available Food and Non-Food Items (FNFIs) amounting to Php 210,130,320,” said Taguiwalo.

She added the total standby fund in its Central Office and Field Office total to PhP 864,523,281.05.

“Of the said amount, PhP 861,523,281 is the available Quick Response Fund at the central office,” she said.

Based on the report of Philvolcs, a magnitude 6.5 earthquake occurred Thursday at 4:03 p.m. with a 2-kilometer depth in Jaro, Leyte (11.16°N, 124.71°E – 008 km S 67° W).

Intensity 5 was felt and recorded in Tacloban City; Palo, Leyte; and Cebu City; Intensity 4 in Tolosa, Leyte; Sagay City, Negros Occidental; and Burgos, Surigao del Norte.

Other intensities recorded are as follows: Intensity 3 in Bogo City, Cebu; and Calatrava, Negros Occidental; and Intensity 2 in Libjo, San Jose; and Cagdianao, Dinagat Islands; while Intensity 1 in Roxas City and La Carlota City in Negros Occidental. (PNA)
