Ormoc-Togonan Line already reinforced, ready to be energized: NGCP

MANILA, July 7 — The National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) has reported that the 138-kilovolt (kV) Ormoc-Togonan Line, which was found leaning after Thursday’s 6.5-magnitude quake in Leyte province, has been reinforced and is ready to be energized as soon as supply becomes available.

In an advisory made available at 3 p.m. Friday, the NGCP said they have also deployed a line team to the Kananga Switchyard, owned by the Energy Development Corp. (EDC), to help restore it and assess ways to extend power from the Tabango Substation to the Ormoc Substation.

The Cebu-Leyte submarine cable, and the Tabango Substation in Leyte continue to transmit power to LEYECO V, serving the municipalities of Tabango, San Isidro, and Villaba, it added.

Bohol, Samar islands, Biliran, Southern Leyte, and parts of Leyte remain without power.

Due to the supply deficiency caused by the outage of power plants in Leyte, customers in Cebu, Negros, and Panay may also suffer occasional power interruptions, the NGCP said. (NGCP advisory) ###PNA
