VIGAN, Ilocos Sur — As highly anticipated, San Beda-Taytay Red Cubs and Nazareth School of National U Bullpups completed a sweep of their respective assignments in the elimination round of the Palarong Pambansa secondary basketball competition on Wednesday at the San Juan Municipal Gymnasium in San Juan, Ilocos Sur.

The Red Cubs, representing Calabarzon, toppled the Mimaropa Tamaraws, 81-60, to lock in a quarterfinal berth.

On the other hand, the Bullpups mauled the Soccsksargen Sox, 92-75, to sweep their own group stage assignments at 3-0.

Central Luzon joined NSNU in the playoffs after blasting Eastern Visayas, 98-55.

Meanwhile, the University of Visayas Baby Lancers also snatched a quarterfinal spot after downing ARMM, 88-72, on Tuesday also at the Quirino Stadium.

However, the Baby Lancers failed to complete a sweep as the Davao Region Eagles earlier stunned them, 80-78, in San Juan. The Eagles enter the playoffs as the top seed in their group in the process.

The quarterfinals will happen on Thursday, April 19, at the San Juan Municipal Gymnasium. (Ivan Stewart Saldajeno/PNA)
