ECC-Region 1 moves to new address to cater to PWDs

SAN FERNANDO, La Union—The Employees’ Compensation Commission (ECC) in Region 1 has moved to its new address here to provide better service to clients including for persons with disability (PWDs) following the assessment of the central office audit team made in January this year.

Dexter Dupagan, information officer II of ECC-1, in an interview with the Philippine News Agency (PNA) Tuesday, said they moved to the new address since April 2 in Balrose Commercial building in Barangay Biday here.

He said the new office, located at the ground floor of the building, is more accessible to their clients, especially PWDs as the former office was situated in the fifth floor of a commercial building in Quezon Avenue here.

“The audit team’s assessment showed problem with accessibility. Although the building has an elevator, it is not always functional,” Dupagan said.

The new office also has a bigger land area of over 48 square meters compared to the former, which was only 37 square meters, said Dupagan.

He added they are now able to conduct training, seminars or orientations in the office itself as it can accommodate the number of their clients, which ranges from 10 to 20 daily.

“We used to rent a place outside the office as venue for trainings but now we can already do it in the new office”, Dupagan said. (Hilda Austria/PNA)
