2 suspected robbers killed in Cavite

KAWIT, Cavite – Two unidentified robbers were killed early Tuesday morning when they refused to surrender and instead engaged law enforcers in a gunfight in Barangay Tabon 3 in this town.

Senior Supt. William Segun, Cavite police director, said that a robbery victim immediately reported to the Kawit police station around 2:36 a.m. to seek assistance.

Segun said the police operatives were dispatched to the site of the robbery at Romehand Building, Barangay Batong Dalig, Kawit.

The lawmen were able to catch up with the unidentified suspects, who boarded their getaway motorcycle heading towards Manila.

A police mobile patrol chased and signaled the suspects to stop and surrender.

But instead of surrendering, one of the suspects fired at the law enforcers, triggering the latter to retaliate and kill the two suspects on the spot.

Segun maintained that the police force is duty-bound and deputized to implement the Comelec gun ban and man checkpoints at the entry and exit points in Cavite.

Recovered from the scene were a motorcycle with plate number ZM5902; a caliber .45 pistol; and the suspects’ backpack containing stolen items. (Rogelio Limpin /PNA)
