BAGUIO CITY — The Department of Energy (DOE) is pushing for the passage of the energy efficiency and conservation bill in Congress, which seeks to grant incentives to energy efficiency and conservation projects, DOE Assistant Secretary Robert Uy said in the opening of the two-day E-Power Mo public forum here on Tuesday.
Uy, who delivered Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi’s message in the event, said the forum is for the department to disseminate information on energy efficiency practices to industry stakeholders and the public, so that all Filipinos would adopt systems that save on power consumption.
“It is our initiative to communicate efficiency in the energy sector, to keep everyone abreast, and to explain the various DOE programs,” the DOE official said.
Uy added E-Power mo is a “simple formula” to be competitive and spur national economic growth and wealth for all.
He said the energy efficiency and conservation bill, which the department hopes to be passed before the end of the 17th Congress, is one of the administration’s energy agenda.
The E-Power Mo forum, which is expected to be attended by 500 people, is done in partnership with the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) and the Philippine Information Agency.
Topics in the two-day event include: Energy efficiency situation of the Philippines; Machine learning: going beyond the hype and making it work for earth science; Vanadium flow battery for ancillary, embedded supply, and smart grid applications; and Sharing of success stories on energy management system.
The forum is also set to tackle issues on the downstream oil and natural gas sector, the upstream sector, renewable sector, and alternative fuels, and energy consumers.
Uy added the energy department is also working on completing the government energy management program, which is on energy best practices and the application of new technologies.
“We are working towards making energy efficiency a way of life of all Filipinos,” he said.
