LINGAYEN, Pangasinan — The Pangasinan Environment and Natural Resources Office (ENRO) will begin planting trees in Barangay Cayanga Bugallon on May 25, in line with the province’s advocacy to protect the environment.
ENRO Chief Nathaniel Pulido, in an interview Monday, said the rain has started to fall in some parts of the province, especially in the mountainous areas like Barangay Cayanga.
“The weather now is suitable for tree planting, the land is now ready for planting,” he said.
He said a water system has been put in place in the area for Adopt-a-Mountain Maintenance and Protection Program led by Governor Amado Espino III.
“There is an impounding dam in the place, so whenever it rains, it could store the rainwater,” he said.
Pulido further said different groups have been scheduled every Wednesday to visit the area and take care of the planted seedlings.
He said mountain protection program also aims to provide livelihood, as the area is planned as an agro-forestry and eco-tourism site.
“We are mandated by the governor to expand the program to other parts of the province,” he added. (Ahikam Pasion/PNA)
