DOLE grants P16-M livelihood aid to Albay, CamSur

LEGAZPI CITY — The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) regional office in Bicol distributed on Thursday PHP16 million worth of livelihood support to 10 barangays and local government unit-proponents (LGUs) in Albay and Camarines Sur.

“The ball is in your hands now,” DOLE Regional Director Exequiel Sarcauga told recipients of the livelihood grants during the first day of the two-day Trabaho, Negosyo at Kabuhayan (TNK) Jobs and Business Fair.

Sarcuaga reminded the beneficiaries that the amount they received came from the taxes of the Filipino people.

“Not everybody receives this kind of assistance, that’s why make sure that this money goes to the betterment of every beneficiary within the community,” he added.

At least five livelihood projects were given to Albay beneficiaries, consisting of business kits for barangays Matambo and San Agustin in Oas town and Napo, Polangui.

A DOLE Kabuhayan starter kit was also provided each to Taysan, Legazpi City, while livelihood enhancement and business kits went to barangay Alnay, Polangui.

Camarines Sur received five livelihood projects amounting to PHP9 million, including DOLE Kabuhayan program — nego kart and starter kit for LGU Tigaon; rice mill project for barangay Bagong Bong, Minalabac; DOLE Kabuhayan starter kit for LGU Bato; Kabuhayan starter kit for barangay Dahilig, Gainza and; clean-up drive and de-clogging of drainage canals under Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers Program (TUPAD) under the 2016 BuB (bottom-up budgeting) funds for Sipocot.

At least 750 beneficiaries from Camarines Sur received livelihood assistance.

Sarcauga said he hoped that the living condition of all recipients would improve after benefitting from the grants.

The beneficiaries include marginalized farmers, unemployed, and from the youth sector. (Connie Calipay/PNA)
