ZAMBOANGA CITY–A policewoman was killed while her companion was wounded when shot by motorcycle-riding gunmen late Thursday in this southern port city, an official disclosed.

Slain was PO1 Rosalyn Macapili, 33, who was assigned with the Police Station 7 of the Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO).

Wounded was Lineth Tuballa, who is staying together with Macapili. She was hospitalized.

Senior Insp. Shellamie Chang, ZCPO information officer, said the incident happened around 10:30 p.m. Thursday in Star Apple Drive, Barangay Baliwasan, this city.

Chang said investigation showed Macapili and Tuballa were inside their residence when a stone was hurled into the roof.

Chang said this prompted Macapili and Tuballa to come out and verify who hurled the stone, but were shot instead by the gunmen riding tandem in a motorcycle that suddenly passed by.

She said Macapili sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was rushed but failed to reach the hospital alive.

Macapili was previously assigned with the Station Drug Enforcement Team (SDET) of Police Station 7. (PNA)
