CDO police nab 4 for gun ban violation

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – Police have arrested four persons for violation of the Commission on Elections’ (Comelec) gun ban during the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) election period.

The Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (Cocpo) added that nine individuals were apprehended for violating the liquor ban.

“Cocpo will be evaluating our efforts to improve our performance in the next election to give better service compared to this election. All recommendations that will be helpful to the next election will be sent to proper authority for appropriate action,” Cocpo said in a statement released Tuesday.

Elsewhere in Northern Mindanao, police and the military personnel raided the houses of Pantar, Lanao del Norte Mayor Jabar Tago on Sunday, May 13.

The raiding team swooped in on Tago’s residences in Barangays Punod and Sundiga Punod, leading to the brief encounter between government troops and an armed group beileved to be Tago’s symphatizers.

Soldiers retrieved various firearms after the clash, including a Barret sniper rifle, two M16 rifles, an M79 grenade launcher, three M14 rifles, six .45 caliber pistols and live ammunition.
