PNP sportsfest to boost discipline, build team spirit

MANILA — PNP Director for Administration Deputy Director General Ramon Apolinario said friendly competition will help instill discipline and build team spirit among the 190,000-strong Philippine National Police (PNP) National Headquarters-National Support Units personnel.

Apolinario made the remark during the opening of the 2018 PNP National Headquarters – National Support Units Sportsfest during the flag-raising ceremony in Camp Crame on Monday.

The games will improve morale and promote the over-all being of the participants, Apolinario underscored.

This is also in compliance with the promotion of a culture of discipline which was declared by PNP chief Oscar Albayalde as a key goal.

The sportsfest will see units take part in competitions in a number of sports such as basketball, volleyball, badminton, table tennis, taekwondo, mini-marathon, swimming, tug-of-war, lawn tennis, bowling, track events, dance sport, boxing, arnis, karatedo and chess.

SPO2 Junny Rex Carreon, a member of the PNP PATROL Triathlon Team lit the ceremonial urn marking the start of the games.

Carreon placed second in the individual category and sprint distance category and was declared Iron Distance finisher in the Tinman Tri Ilocos Norte even held March this year.
