Palace wishes LP Senate bets ‘good luck’

MANILA — Malacañang on Monday wished the Senate bets of Liberal Party (LP) “good luck” after their names were announced by party president and Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan.

“Good luck to them. ‘Yun lang (That’s all),” presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said in a Palace briefing, refusing to say anything more.

Panglinan, in a TV interview, named Senator Paolo Benigno “Bam” Aquino IV, Magdalo party-list Rep. Gary Alejano, former Akbayan party-list Rep. Barry Gutierrez, LP Vice President for External Affairs Lorenzo “Erin” Tañada, De La Salle University College of Law Dean Jose Manuel Diokno, and singer-actress Agot Isidro as potential Senate bets.

However, he said they are still trying to convince Isidro who is a known critic of the Duterte administration.

Pangilinan also said that the party is also considering ousted Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno to join their lineup.

He also revealed that former Interior and Local Government Secretary and defeated presidential candidate Manuel “Mar” Roxas II declined LP’s offer to run again as a senator. (PNA)
