Career exec named Tourism Promotions Board OIC

MANILA — The Department of Tourism (DOT) on Thursday named Arnold Gonzales as officer-in-charge of the Tourism Promotions Board (TPB) following the resignation of Cesar Montano as TPB chief operating officer.

Gonzales was unanimously chosen as OIC by the Board of Directors of TPB on Thursday.

The 56-year old career executive has been with the DOT and TPB for 30 years, assigned at various posts in the Philippines and abroad.

Prior to his designation, Gonzales was OIC of Domestic Promotions Department of the TPB.

Under the Tourism Act of 2009, the Tourism Congress is set to nominate a new COO in June.

Montano resigned from his post on Monday following the PHP80-million controversy on TPB-sponsored Buhay Carinderia…Redefined.

Pending review, the food tourism program, including all other upcoming TPB projects were suspended by DOT Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat. (PNA)
