600 Antique cops to secure Monday’s school opening

SAN JOSE De BUENAVISTA, Antique — The Antique Provincial Police Office (APPO) on Thursday said it will deploy about 600 personnel during the June 4 school opening to ensure the safety of students.

Supt. Norby Escobar of the APPO said under its “Balik Eskwela Program,” police personnel will be assigned in populated schools and even along the highways to prevent any untoward incident.

“There would be two police personnel to be assigned in every school for a week starting June 4,” he said in an interview Thursday.

Among the schools where police will be deployed are the Antique National School (ANS) and the Delegate Angel Salazar Jr. Memorial School in Antique’s capital town San Jose de Buenavista.

Escobar said APPO police officers will also conduct “Red Team” operation to monitor and ensure that there is police visibility.

“We appeal to parents to guide their minor children in crossing the streets so to prevent vehicular accident,” he added.

Escobar also advised the parents to caution their children to avoid being victimized by snatchers who target their valuable items, like cellular phones.(PNA)
