Tanauan City hall workers get post-graduate scholarships

TANAUAN CITY, Batangas – Fifteen city hall employees here have hurdled the qualifying examinations for a Master in Public Adminsitration (MPA) for the school year 2018-2019. following the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement wit Lyceum of the Philippines University (LPU).

In a report on Monday, the City Information Office disclosed that the masteral scholarship program was offered for deserving and qualified employees who wish to pursue further studies for career advancement and future promotions in their positions in the public service.

“We will raise the bar of public service in the city government of Tanauan by professionalizing our ranks,” Tanauan City Mayor Antonio C. Halili remarked after forging a memorandum of agreement between the city government and the LPU-Batangas on June 5.

He and City Administrator lawyer Herminigildo G. Trinidad Jr. inked the scholarship agreement with LPU-Batangas Senior Vice President Erick Badillo and Dr. Flora V. Javier, Vice President for Academic Affairs of LPU-Laguna.

The masteral scholarship programs aims to prepare and groom qualified rank and file workers to handle higher positions and level up professionalism in the local government public service to strengthen the local government bureaucracy.

Meanwhile, Trinidad inspired the pioneering batch of 15 city government scholars to complete their masteral studies because their success will also determine the sustainability of the city hall’s post-graduate scholarship program.

Under the program, the city government will shoulder the cost of the tuition fees and other masteral education expenses based on the “Service Contract Agreement” with the city government under the terms and conditions for the scholars to continue to serve the city government. (Maroe T. Genosa/PNA)
