19 hurt in NoCot passenger van, cargo truck collision

MAKILALA, North Cotabato — At least 19 persons were injured when a Toyota Hi-Ace commuter van collided with a cargo truck along a highway here at 4 a.m. Monday.

The Makilala police said the vehicles involved in the mishap, which occurred in front of Doong Maternity Clinic, were a cargo truck (RHT-548) driven by Rico Altabarino, and a passenger van with driver Milagro Soberano.

Traffic investigators said the van, loaded with passengers enroute to Davao City, overtook another vehicle and collided with the cargo truck going the opposite direction. Both Altabarino and Soberano sustained multiple injuries following the collision.

Also injured in the incident were Rowel Biason, Jenifer Patron,22; Vichie Islabon, Gigato Judieza, 20; Benryll de Leon, 19; Dolly Cobita, 37; Magbilin Jr, 47; Al Sudang, 19; Ofelia Pulido, 57, Ellen Vira Belvis, 34; Rose May Tayontong, 24; Chervie Bantoy, 29; Archie Janea, 31; Riezeveel Janea,32; Zander Von Bislon, 25; George Bascon, 25; and May Rose Catone, 28, all van passengers from M’lang town. (Edwin Fernandez/PNA)
