Hundreds of posts up for grabs in Cagayan job fair

TUGUEGARAO CITY — Hundreds of locals are expected to gain employment through a job fair currently ongoing at the sports complex in this city as part of the celebration of the province’s 435th founding anniversary dubbed “Aggao Nac Cagayan”.

Governor Manuel Mamba said various job opportunities are waiting for welders, masons, carpenters, engineers and other professionals.

“Sa Tuao lang (in Tuao alone) we will be needing 400 workers for a PHP4.3-billion irrigation project. They will be hiring engineers for the next three years…I think marami pa rin ito. Hindi tayo mawawalan ng mga opportunities para sa mga tao natin (I think there will be more jobs available. We will not run out of opportunities for our people),” Mamba said.

Today’s job fair is an undertaking of the provincial government of Cagayan in collaboration with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in Region 2 (Cagayan Valley).

Provincial information officer Rogelio Sending said the event is being participated in by more than 10 institutions and government offices.

The job fair is being conducted at the Leonardo Mamba Gymnasium, Cagayan Sports Complex, this city from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Sending said it will benefit not only Cagayanos but even job seekers from other provinces.

The participating employers earlier submitted the list of vacancies to the provincial government’s Public Employment Service Officer, he added.

Applicants were advised to bring their ID, transcript of records, and proof of barangay residency. (Simeon Dilan/PNA)
