PALAYAN CITY, Nueva Ecija — The provincial government of Nueva Ecija is offering a PHP1-million reward to anyone who can give information that will lead to the resolution of the killing of Gen. Tinio town mayor Ferdinand Bote.
Provincial Administrator Alejandro Abesamis on Thursday said the amount will be drawn from the provincial fund.
Governor Czarina Umali, in a statement, vowed “to make the perpetrators answer for their crime.”
“Nakikiisa kami sa panawagan at pagkilos para sa pinakamabilis na kalutasan ng krimen (We join the appeal and action for the swift resolution of the crime),” Umali said, adding nothing can justify the killing of the town chief executive.
New CCTV footage gathered by the police from villages adjacent to the crime scene showed that there were three persons on the single motorcycle used in the crime, and two of them were armed.
Initial reports said the attackers were riding in tandem.
The motorcycle was backed up by an SUV as it fled Barangay Imelda, the footage also showed.
Bote was ambushed along Maharlika Highway in Cabanatuan City around 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
He was rushed by his driver to the MV Gallego Hospital, just across the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) Upper Pampanga River Integrated Irrigation Office where he came from, but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician. (PNA)
