Antique holds clean, peaceful ABC elections

SAN JOSE DE BUENAVISTA, Antique — Antique Governor Rhodora Cadiao on Monday thanked the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and the barangay (village) chairpersons for the clean and peaceful conduct of elections of the Association of Barangay Captains (ABC).

Monitoring the results of the ABC election in the 18 municipalities of the province from the capitol, the governor expected that the election process was being done orderly.

“Thank you DILG and barangay captains,” she said.

The governor said the ABC election in Pandan, Belison, Libertad, Caluya and Bugasong towns were finished as of noontime Monday while she still has to get the report from the rest of the towns.

The election of officer for the provincial level will be on July 30.

After the election, the DILG will hold a seminar for the newly-elected barangay captains to equip them with the knowledge so they would be able to perform their duties and responsibilities well.

Cadiao earlier said regardless of political affiliation, the barangay chairpersons could come to her office to request projects for their barangays. ( Annabel Consuelo Petinglay/PNA)
