BACOLOD CITY — The remains of the two Negrenses who were swept by strong river currents in the cities of Bago and Kabankalan on Sunday have been recovered by search and rescue personnel.
The decomposing body of RJ Estilo, 26, was found at about 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, two days after he was reported missing, a report from the Bago City Police said on Wednesday.
The Bago City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) posted on their Facebook account pictures of their personnel searching for Estilo on Tuesday.
The police report said a resident sought assistance after he saw a body floating on the river in Purok Kabatuhan, Barangay Tabunan and it was later identified as that of Estilo.
His common-law wife Mary Joy Villanueva said Estilo went to the river with two companions at about 2:30 p.m. on Sunday.
It has been reported earlier that Estilo’s group went shallow fishing near an overflow in Purok Kabatuhan.
The victim was buried at the Sum-ag Catholic Cemetery in Bacolod, the police report added.
In Kabankalan, the body of Eduardo Amparado, 56, was recovered in the area of Hacienda Flora at about 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, according to the CDRRMO dispatch duty staff Robert Lisas.
Amparado, who resided in Barangay Tan-awan, was crossing the Ilog-Hilabangan River on Sunday night when he went missing. (Nanette Guadalquiver/PNA)
