BACOOR CITY, Cavite – Fourteen of the 23 jail breakers from this city’s detention center in Barangay Talaba were recaptured and are already back in jail, city chief of police Supt. Vicente Cabatingan confirmed Sunday night.
Cabatingan said that as of press time, nine more are being hunted down.
The inmates, who were re-arrested with the help of civilians who were inside the premises during the escape were, Norberto Hidalgo Jr. of Pulo-2, Dalahican, Barangay 8, Cavite City with robbery case; Dennis Conobio Baluban of Magdalena Street, Addas 2-A, Baragay Molino 2, Bacoor with illegal drugs case; Aryol Elcano Capili of Tramo St. Barangay Talaba 7, Bacoor; Jonathan Garrido Narag of Tabing Dagat, Bacoor; and Jay-Jay Ragas Ruiz of Golden City, Barangay Salawag, Dasmariñas City, Cavite.
Those arrested during the immediate manhunt operations following the jailbreak were Junjie Thomas Moog; Leomar Tagudin Prodon; and Marvin Donato Luna.
Those who surrendered earlier to Bacoor police on Sunday morning were Divinagracia Dellon of Barangay Kaingen, Bacoor City; Frederick Salondro of Villa Esperanza, Barangay Molino 2, Bacoor; Romeo Lambete Cabral Jr. of Addas 2, Barangay Progressive Village 6, Barangay Molino 2, Bacoor; Tristan Lance Collera Ocupe; Gerald Tahan Lintan; and Ferc Leo Carilla Melendrez – who are facing illegal drugs cases, robbery and homicide.
The 23 inmates bolted jail around 4:40 p.m. last Friday (July 27) after overpowering non-uniformed personnel Jeremiah Perez, who was accosting inmate Angel Eusebio back to jail after the latter took his mugshot.
They took the chance by forcibly pushing the cell gate open and also overpowered the duty jail guards and fled to different directions.
Cabatingan said he already relieved the detention cell supervisor and eight jail guards pending an investigation. (Dennis Abrina/PNA)
