DepEd-Ilocos Norte reshuffles school heads

LAOAG CITY — The Department of Education office in Ilocos Norte is currently implementing a reshuffle of supervisors and school principals.

Schools Division Superintendent Vilma Eda said Tuesday she favors the move as it provides school heads the opportunity to share their expertise with other schools.

A department order states that school heads in the province, who have served five years in their assigned school, must move out to also serve in other schools.

“When you go out of your comfort zone, the more that you will be trained and develop other competencies for the betterment of schools,” Eda said in a press conference held at the Division Office.

According to Eda, reshuffling is also a way of sharing management skills and applying good practices when one is exposed to different areas of the field.

Among these areas are improvement of the physical conditions of the school and development of better relationships with the community.

Eda said there are principals who are adamant on leaving their schools after introducing so many improvements, which are dear to them, but they should be open to change.

She reiterated that it is the DepEd’s mandate to promote efficient and effective services and one way of doing so is to implement reshuffling. (Leilanie Adriano/PNA)
