MANILA — The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) forecasts light to moderate rains in most parts of the country due to the southwest monsoon on Thursday.
PAGASA weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio said the southwest monsoon has weakened and will bring “light to moderate rains” in most parts of the country, particularly southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
Monsoon rains will prevail over Palawan, Occidental Mindoro, Western Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, and ARMM with cloudy skies and thunderstorms in the next 24 hours, according to PAGASA’s 4-p.m. weather bulletin on Wednesday.
The weather bureau cautioned of possible flooding and landslides caused by scattered rains or thunderstorms in these areas.
Metro Manila, Calabarzon, Bicol Region, and the rest of Mimaropa, Visayas, and Mindanao will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rains due to the southwest monsoon.

Northern and central Luzon will also have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers caused by local thunderstorms.

Aurelio added they are monitoring a low-pressure area (LPA) outside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR), which was last spotted 1,725 kilometers east of extreme northern Luzon.
However, the LPA is not expected to enter the PAR, but will merge with some cloud clusters currently located inside the PAR.
Moderate to occasionally rough seaboards are also forecast in southern Luzon and Visayas.
Other areas will have slight to moderate coastal waters.
PAGASA sees a temperature range of 16-34 degrees Celsius until Sunday.
