COTABATO CITY – Good management of human resources has been one of the Kidapawan City government’s priority to effectively serve its constituents.

According to Mayor Joseph Evangelista, this entails making sure that human resources are properly managed, assigning them tasks based on their skills, and give them the opportunity to excel as civil servants.

The effort bore fruit as the Kidapawan City government was awarded the Human Resource and Management (HRM) excellence award by the Civil Service Commission (CSC).

Evangelista and Maria Magdalena Bernabe, Kidapawan City human resource and management officer, received the CSC PRIME-HRM Bronze Award at SMX Mall in Lanang, Davao City on Thursday. PRIME-HRM stands for Program to Institutionalize Meritocracy and Excellence in Human Resource Management.

In a statement following the awarding ceremony, CSC said PRIME-HRM aims to develop and empower agencies in the government, both national and local.

It said the Kidapawan City government was recognized for achieving the four main core of human resource management systems and indicators: Recruitment, Selection and Placement (RSP), Performance Management System (PMS), Learning and Development (L&D), and Rewards and Recognition (R&R).

The CSC told Evangelista that his city is the only local government in Region 12 (Soccsksargen) awarded the CSC PRIME-HRM Bronze Award. Other recipients of PRIME-HRM bronze awards were the Department of Trade and Industry 12 and the Metro Midsayap Water District in Midsayap, North Cotabato.

“The CSC recognition has encouraged me to push further city government employees to excel in government service, taking extra steps to achieve CSC expectations,” Evangelista said in a local radio interview on Saturday. (Edwin Fernandez/PNA)
