Monsoon rains over Metro Manila, parts of Luzon Saturday

MANILA — Monsoon rains will prevail over Metro Manila and other parts of Luzon on Saturday, as the southwest monsoon affecting the entire archipelago is being enhanced by Tropical Storm Karding, the weather bureau said.

“Karding”, last tracked at 990 km. east northeast of Basco, Batanes, was heading northwest at 25 km. per hour with maximum sustained winds of 75 kph near the center, and gustiness of up to 90 kph, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

Metro Manila, Batanes, the Babuyan Group of Islands, Ilocos, Cordillera region, central Luzon, Calabarzon, and Mimaropa will experience monsoon rains, with possible flooding and landslides due to moderate to occasional heavy rains.

Bicol, western and eastern Visayas, and the rest of the Cagayan Valley region will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms.

Mindanao and the rest of Visayas, on the other hand, will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rains or thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, strong to gale winds will blow over the western part of Luzon. Its coastal waters will be rough to very rough.

Moderate to strong winds will prevail over Visayas and the rest of Luzon. Coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough.
