MANILA — The supposed special satellite registration for women and girls at the St. Theresa’s College in Quezon City on Thursday (August 16) will be rescheduled, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) said on Friday.
“We will try to reschedule it,” said Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez in a telephone interview.
He cited technical difficulties as the reason why there was no registration held in the said school.
The satellite registration at Miriam College, Quezon City pushed through as scheduled on August 16.
In an earlier statement, Jimenez said that all offices of the elections officer from districts 1 to 6 of Comelec Quezon City have received and process applications during the activity.
He reported that a special lane for persons with disabilities (PWDs) was also set up.
Commissioner Rowena Guanzon, head of Gender and Development Focal Point System-Executive Committee (GAD FPS-ExeCom), earlier announced that they will conduct special registrations in several exclusive all girls schools in a bid to register more female voters.
The system of continuing registration of voters started in July 2 and will run until September 29.
