MANILA — The Philippine government, through the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), has condemned the terror attack in Kabul, Afghanistan on Wednesday, which killed and injured dozens of civilians.
“The Philippines joins the international community in calling for all parties to adhere to and respect humanitarian principles, and ensure the safety and protection of all civilians, especially women and children,” DFA Spokesperson Elmer Cato said in a statement on Saturday.
At the same time, he extended the agency’s sympathies to the bereaved families of the victims.
“We express our deepest condolences to the affected families and offer our solidarity with the Afghan people in these trying times.”
At least 48 civilians perished from the bombing inside an education center in Kabul, and more than 60 others were injured, mostly children and young adults, according to the DFA.
