PNP to help LGUs in disaster risk reduction efforts

MANILA, July 27 — The Philippine National Police (PNP) has instructed all police officers, especially in Metro Manila, which is pummeled by rains and floods brought about by the southwest monsoon and Tropical Storm Gorio, to be ready to assist local government units in their disaster risk reduction efforts.

This was the instruction of PNP chief, Director Gen. Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa, police spokesperson, Chief Supt. Dionardo Carlos, said Thursday.

In line with this, the PNP chief ordered the forward deployment of search-and-rescue units in calamity-prone areas in Metro Manila.

These include communities near creeks and areas surrounding the Marikina River. (Priam F. Nepomuceno/PNA)
