Davao City gives P500K aid for Alaminos City flood victims

ALAMINOS CITY, Pangasinan — The city government here on Wednesday received a PHP500,000 check from the city government of Davao as aid for the typhoon and flooding victims here.

“The city government of Alaminos expresses its heartfelt gratitude to the city government of Davao led by Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio for reaching out to its fellow local government and for its utmost concern and compassion to the families who were affected by Tropical Storm Inday and Tropical Depression Josie,” a message posted on Alaminos City Mayor Arthur Celeste’s official Facebook page said.

The check was personally handed to Celeste and other city government officials by Davao City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office Central 911 chief Emmanuel Jaldon and Davao City Treasurer’s Office staff Virgilio San Pedro.

“The very timely and valuable assistance from Davao City government will go a long way as far as aiding our typhoon and flooding victims and in helping make Alaminos a more resilient city,” Celeste said.

The weather disturbances in the province in the past weeks brought incessant and strong rains, which caused flooding in some areas of the province including some barangays of this city. The Sangguniang Panlalawigan placed the entire province under state of calamity on July 23.

The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office is still on blue alert as strong rains are still being experienced to date in some parts of the province. (Hilda Austria/PNA)
