Cops seize P40-M worth of shabu from Taiwanese national

MANILA– A Taiwanese national has been arrested by Manila police in a drug bust in Binondo, Manila.

In a report to the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), Manila Police District (MPD) reported the arrest of Chang Chin Haw,31 of Kao Hsiung, Taiwan, inside Room 506 of the Good Hope Hotel at 518 T Mapua St., Binondo, Manila on Friday.

The MPD report said Haw had been under surveillance following information that he was involved in arms smuggling.

On Friday morning the suspect was about to leave the hotel using the backdoor exit when operatives from the MPD’s District Police Intelligence Operation Unit (DPIOU) pounced on him.

When he saw the presence of police officers, he ran back inside the hotel. But police were quick to give chase until finally caught him up at Room 506, where he was subdued and placed under arrest.

Seized from Haw were six kilograms of metamphetamine hydrochloride with an estimated value of PHP40 milion; 20,000 rounds of ammo (9 MM) worth PHP400,000, and 385 pieces of foil-wrapped substance believed to be precursor of illegal drugs .
